CMC Energy Services

Founded by Doris Ikle in 1977, CMC is a leading pioneer in residential energy services nationwide. CMC combines program design with implementation, and innovation with prudent business practices. Under the continued leadership of Doris Iklé, CMC has helped 300,000 residential and commercial customers reduce their energy bills 15-30%. To further maintain our high quality standards, we do our own training and develop our own software, while consistently looking for ways to improve the programs we administer. Home Energy Tune-uP® is a new program begun in 2003. To date, we have 300 certified energy inspectors in 30 states. CMC is a woman owned, Maryland Business with additional offices in Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

CMC History:
CMC was born and bred with the 1977 Energy Policy Act that required utilities to provide energy audits to their customers. Our first product, designed by Doris Iklé, was a do-it-yourself slide-chart-calculator to audit homes. This calculator enabled over 200,000 residents to audit their own homes -- by far the least expensive (10 cents a piece) and most effective educational energy auditing tool. CMC then offered a professional version to be used by utility auditors. This led to CMC becoming a leading provider of trained energy auditors to utilities. Subsequently, government programs expanded to small commercial establishments and CMC was the first to have the software and manpower needed by the utilities. CMC successfully provided small commercial audits to almost all New Jersey utilities. CMC has provided energy audits, inspections, and support activities to major utilities for the past 28 years. For 15 years, CMC has been administering a number of very successful low income programs for utilities in Pennsylvania, Washington DC, and Maryland.

CMC Now:
Here at CMC we continue to invest in Research and Development for new products and services. A product to be manufactured early next year is a thermal shade that has progressed through the design phase, been patented and is currently being tested. And being rolled out state-by-state for the past two years is Home Energy Tune-uP®, CMC’s residential energy efficiency program - A full-service program designed to persuade homebuyers, sellers and owners to improve the energy efficiency of their new homes. We anticipate a future market of 5 million participants by 2009.

CMC’s Goal:
Energy efficiency that is practical and possible, now.
