Kenneth Salvo of Ridge Home Inspection, Inc. in Basking Ridge, N.J., has been awarded the 2004 Phillip C. Monahon Achievement Award from the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) for his exceptional and innovative contributions to the ASHI Membership. The award was presented by the Society in Austin, Texas, during the group's recent Annual Business Meeting and Awards Ceremony held in conjunction with InspectionWorld 2005, the annual conference of professional home inspectors.
Established in 1983, the Monahon Award, ASHI's most prestigious honor, recognizes an ASHI Member who is dedicated to its goals and ideals as stated in the Code of Ethics and who, as a Member, has rendered outstanding contributions of time, talent and expertise to the Society for a minimum of five years. The Monahon Award recipient is selected by ASHI's Awards Committee from nominees proposed by the general membership. In addition, an annual cash donation of $500 is made to the Newton-Wellesley Hospital in Newton, Mass., in the name of Philip C. Monahon.
"Ken's involvement at the National and Chapter levels has always focused on improving the home inspection industry," said Garden State of ASHI President Peter Engle. "He has chaired numerous committees and has been very vocal in keeping local members aware and involved in the direction the Society is heading."
Salvo has been a member of ASHI since 1996 holding local positions of treasurer, vice president and president. He currently holds the chapter position of immediate past president. According to Salvo, "I want to provide a voice for those I represent in the home inspection profession. Phillip Monahon was larger than life and I am honored to be mentioned in the same breath as a true visionary for the future growth and success of our Society."
