Don Norman of HouseMaster Home Inspection Service, Bridgeton, Mo., has been elected president of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), the leading non-profit organization for professional home inspectors.

Elected at ASHI's recent 29th annual InspectionWorld Conference in Austin, Texas, Norman will continue to emphasize ASHI's role as the leading association for consumer education and for its stringent standards and ethical guidelines.  According to Norman, "ASHI has always been known for its Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, which are in place to protect the consumer and the inspector alike.  As president, I want to continue to bring focus to these cornerstones of our Society, which are the strongest in the profession."

In addition to bringing attention to ASHI's Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics, the organization continues to see the positive impact of its new program, The ASHI Experience, which was launched a year ago and has resulted in increased consumer awareness and new opportunities for ASHI Inspectors.

"The ASHI Experience has brought us a great deal of exposure through new Public Service Announcements, print and radio advertising and media attention at both the national and local levels," said Norman. He added, "We are confident that we have provided our Members and qualified Candidates with the tools and education needed to deliver on this commitment to the public of outstanding customer service combined with the best in technical expertise."

In addition to the significant marketing and educational tools created for its members over the last year, ASHI completely redesigned its Web site (www.ASHI.org) to make it easy for users to locate an ASHI Inspector and to experience its industry-first "Virtual Home Inspection," also available online.

Officers Named

Joining Norman, several other ASHI members were named to prominent positions in the organization.  Joseph Corsetto of Shelterworks, Inc., Dover, N.J. will serve as President-elect; Frank Lesh of Home Sweet Home Inspection Co., Indian Head Park, Ill., will take the role of Vice President; Bill Richardson of Responsive Inspections, Inc., Albuquerque, N.M., will assume the role as Treasurer; and David Tamny of Professional Property Inspection, Columbus, Ohio, will serve as Secretary.

All share in Norman's excitement to build on the momentum gained in the last year and to work hard to maintain ASHI's position as the most respected non-profit association serving the home inspection profession.

EDITOR'S NOTE:  A photo of Mr. Norman is also available and interview requests may be obtained by contacting Lisa Gunggoll or Nicho Campos of Manning Selvage & Lee at 312-861-5200.
