Richard Matzen Elected 21st President of ASHI;
Will Emphasize ASHI's Importance in
Growing Home Inspection Profession
Richard Matzen, president of Home Buyers Inspections, Seattle, Wash., has been elected president of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), the leading non-profit organization for professional home inspectors.
During his term, Matzen will continue to emphasize ASHI's role as the leader in the home inspection profession and encourage state and federal legislators to work with home inspectors in order to develop meaningful home inspector legislation.
"In 26 years, ASHI has grown to become by far the largest and most respected organization in the home inspection profession," says Matzen. "This is primarily because of the resources and opportunities we provide for our members-who are the most qualified in the business. Every day, more homebuyers are realizing the value of an ASHI Inspection than ever before."
"As this industry continues to mature, ASHI will also play an increasing role in the larger real estate industry," he continues. "We will work with state and federal governments, as well as allied trade associations and professional organizations, to develop programs and policies that are good for both home inspectors and the general public."
Along with Matzen, several other ASHI members were named to prominent positions in the organization. Stephen Gladstone of Stonehollow, Inc., Stamford, Conn., was elected President-Elect; Don Norman of HouseMaster Inspection Service, St. Louis, Mo. will serve as ASHI Vice President; Keith Ruehl of U.S. Inspect, Jupiter, Fla., will take the role as Secretary; and Joseph Corsetto of Shelterworks, Inc., Dover, N.J, will serve as Treasurer.
