Many cities around the United States are going to 3rd party energy inspectors to perform their municipal energy code inspections. This can be a profitable business line for ASHI home inspectors to use their knowledge and experience for profit and to gain credibility in their local markets. We will cover the changes in the 2012 IECC for residential energy inspections that may affect inspections in your area.
Jim Hemsell, ACI has owned his inspection business in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area for 31 years. He has been a home energy rater since 1998 and actively involved in the energy code inspection business for over 4 years. Jim has served on the Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors, ASHI Legislative Committee and the ASHI ByLaws Committee as well as on the ASHI Board of Directors and the ASHI Certification Committee.
