Ten years ago, Code Check's lead author, Douglas Hansen, wrote what was called "The best book ever written on electrical inspections for home inspectors." Electrical Inspections of Existing Dwelling has been completely re-written. Over twice the original size, it has been updated to the 2011 NEC and is packed with information to help inspectors through all aspects of an electrical inspection.
The book functions as a training manual with a systematic approach to electrical inspections. It also serves as a guide to locate the specific NEC sections that apply to home inspections, and it includes extensive historical notes on when different items entered the code and how it has changed over the years.
Join Douglas Hansen as he presents a very exciting program for inspectors. The book, newest edition (308 pages), is included in the course fee and will be used as the manual during the course to explore certain topics indepth, including grounding and bonding, panels, AFCIs, GFCIs, and special equipment. Approved for 16 ASHI CEs.
Douglas Hansen - retired ASHI member & recipient of the John Cox and Phil Monahon awards, is the principal author of the Code Check series of field guides to building codes. He is a former adjunct professor in the College of San Mateo building inspection degree program and represents ASHI on the NFPA committee on electrical systems maintenance. His past experience as a home inspector and his involvement with code-making organizations give him a unique perspective and he serves as a bridge between those two worlds. For over 20 years he has been a highly sought national speaker on a variety of inspection topics and brings passion and enthusiasm to each of his classes.
