Spouse Program
Spouses have four registration options this year:
Full Conference (for those attending the educational sessions,
Gala included)
Conference Education (for those attending the educational sessions, without the Gala)
Spouse Social Tour/Activity
Spouse Social (no tours)
Once again this year, for spouses interested in getting out and seeing the city, or enjoying some of the facilities of the Biltmore Resort, ASHI has arranged for some very special spouse activities.
In addition to the scheduled activities on Thursday, January 5 and Friday, January 6, you will have all day Wednesday and Saturday on your own to explore other options in the resort or in the Phoenix area.
For those who do not choose to purchase the full Spouse Tour registration package, or if you would like to bring a friend, separate one-day tickets will also be available in advance online and onsite at the ASHI Registration/Information Desk.
Before or after the planned tours and activities, you can always relax in the private Spouse Lounge at any time. Lounge hours will be Thursday and Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
The following activities on Thursday and Friday are included in the Spouse Social Tour/Activity registration:
Thursday, January 5
History Tour of Biltmore Resort Property. This one-hour tour will take you on a journey into a past full of famous architecture, music, prohibition days and celebrity life. This tour departs at 10:00 a.m.
Lunch will be on your own, and then, if you so choose, we have arranged for a special Afternoon at the Biltmore Resort Spa. Since the spa options vary widely, you will need to contact Angie directly at 602-955-6600 X2984 to make your reservation. A 20% discount will be offered to ASHI guests and can be billed to your room. Times are 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Friday, January 6
you will be picked up at the hotel door for a day trip down the Apache Trail (including Goldfield Ghost Town, Canyon Lake, Tortilla Flat and Fish Creek Canyon), shopping at Torilla Flats and a Cruise of Canyon Lake on the Dolly Steamboat including lunch and an expert guided tour of the entire area. The tour will depart from the hotel at 8:00 a.m. and return at 4:30 p.m.
Additional Activities
(Not included in Spouse/Tour Activity Registration)
On Wednesday, January 4, 2012 take a guided tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesen West.
Situated on 600 acres of rugged Sonoran Desert beneath the picturesque McDowell Mountain Range lies Taliesin West, inspiration of and once home to the legendary Frank Lloyd Wright. Now a National Historic Landmark, Taliesin West serves as school and home to a steady stream of apprentices eager to carry on in the tradition of the architectural master. Visitors experience firsthand Wright’s brilliant ability to integrate indoor and outdoor spaces. This tour is open to anyone, and will depart the hotel at 12:30 p.m. and return around 4:30 p.m.Cost of this option is $100, and includes transportation and entrance fee.
On Saturday, January 7, we have arranged for an optional Mexican Interactive Cooking Class – Hell’s Kitchen Style. This will be held at Aunt Chiladas, a local quaint Mexican restaurant. You will depart from the hotel at 8:30 and return at 11:00. Chef Tiffany will leading an interactive cooking class, and you will enjoy a 3-course meal: Breakfast Quesadillas served with choice of chicken, steak, ham, or shrimp. (You will also have the option of mimosas or Bloody Marys or Margaritas - your choice. There is a charge of $130, and we will need to get an approximate count of interested persons a week in advance.
Spouse Lounge
The Spouse Lounge will be open each of the three conference days, starting immediately after the breakfasts wrap up at 9:00 a.m. Spouses, of course, are invited to the breakfasts-for-purchase that are served in the Expo Hall on Thursday and Friday, and in the McArthur Ballroom on Saturday. Feel free to stop by the Spouse Lounge as long as you wish to relax and visit with your long-time conference friends.
