Dear ASHI Membership: Nothing has an impact on an elected official like a message from you, a constituent. After all, you’re the one who’s affected by the laws and regulations they are making, and you are ultimately the one who casts the vote which elects them to office! Furthermore, you are a business owner and business leader – so your voice counts more than most. A PAC is a Political Action Committee designed to allow American citizens to exercise their constitutional right and need to participate in the political process, but in a way that is controlled and allows for full disclosure and openness in the campaign finance process. InspectPAC, ASHI’s Political Action Committee represents your interests as a home inspection professional. InspectPAC supports the kind of pro-home inspection activity that ASHI has worked toward for many years. Further, InspectPAC:
Some of you may have mixed feelings about PACs and campaign finance matters. The reality is our system works better when more responsible people get involved, and certainly our needs are no less important than any other group of business leaders. ASHI must be a part of that system in order to have the opportunity to make an impact. And realize, even small donation amounts help us to have a direct impact on issues concerning the Home Inspection profession. It is important to understand, however, that PAC contributions can never guarantee a particular policy outcome. It is fair, though, to expect a more enhanced access in presenting ASHI’s viewpoints and policy proposals. By law, there are many rules and regulations surrounding participation in a PAC. ASHI works very hard to make sure they are followed. One requirement we must meet before we are able to even ask for your financial contribution to InspectPAC is to obtain authorization to solicit political contributions from you and your employees. We urge you to have your company’s principal contact click here to complete and return the authorization form. We are not asking you for a contribution at this time. A reminder: watch for important Federal updates in each issue of The ASHI Reporter in “View from the Hill”. Also, be sure to continually visit the Legislative Action Center located in the Membership Extranet section of the ASHI Web site for real-time access to legislative, regulatory, and political information. This is a valuable tool already provided to you as a benefit of your ASHI Membership. Thank you for your support. Sincerely,
Don Norman
