Because of the success we had at InspectionWorld Atlanta and Las Vegas with pre-conference courses, we are once again offering a selection of one-day training courses.

These courses are being presented to give you an opportunity to expand your home inspection business in a convenient one-day format.

Session 1

RESNET Level-1 Home Energy Survey Professional

The Department of Energy is rolling out the Home Energy Scoring program in late 2011, tapping some of the nearly $3 billion in federal funding made available for energy efficiency programs. Make sure you are ready. You will need a RESNET HESP Certification as a minimum designation or BPI Certification to participate in this program.

Would you like to become a Level-1 RESNET Home Energy Survey Professional (HESP) at InspectionWorld? Now more than ever, homeowners are searching for unbiased, professional advice on how to make their homes more energy efficient. You have a tremendous opportunity to put yourself into a cutting edge industry that will drive the American economy for the next decade.

Take this self-paced 16-hour HESP e-Learning course before arrival at InspectionWorld Phoenix to prepare for the RESNET HESP exam to be proctored at the conference. The course is divided into 10 sessions and covers all the foundational building energy and construction science to begin a career as a home energy professional.  Take up to 45 days before arriving in Phoenix to complete the class.

A Level-1 Home Energy Survey Professional (HESP) is qualified to conduct a walk-through assessment of the general energy performance problems and make basic recommendations for improvements or further analysis.

BPI Home Energy Professional Certification

This course offering has been specially tailored by the Home Energy Team Institute to fit into the InspectionWorld program.

As an experienced home inspector, you will be able to complete this 32-hour course as follows:

Complete 24 hours of self-paced e-Learning modules

Study the 90-minute energy audit and field exam training loaner video at home prior to arrival (26 hours)

Take the Hands-on Diagnostic Field Training on Tuesday, January 3 (8am -5pm) (Plan on arriving one day early to be ready for the field training)

Take the 2-hour BPI Practical Field Exam on Wednesday, January 4

Review and take the BPI Written Exam on Wednesday, January 4

Heat Exhanger Experts – Special Course in Diagnosing Heat Exhanger Problems

By popular request, after a 2-hour session offered at InspectionWorld Atlanta, we will be offering the Heat Exchanger Experts – Ellis and Russell Prach – in an expanded session to give attendees 4 hours of hands-on experience in diagnosing and detecting heat exchanger failures. Heating inspection can be a very important part of your routine home inspections, and inspectors seldom have the opportunity to really get into the hidden problems often found in heat exchangers. This is your chance.

The course will cover:

  • Description of different types of heat exchangers

  • Families of furnaces – similar chambers, with the same characteristics

  • Clamshell types, tubular types, serpentine, drum type chambers

  • Red flags to watch out for

  • Cycling the furnace

  • Indications that a problem exists

  • Air flow, venting and carbon monoxide hazards

  • How to inspect each kind of furnace chamber, and the proper procedures to follow

  • Where to look, and where the furnace fails first

  • Absolute proof of your diagnosis

  • Manufacturers’ reference book will be used as a text and will be available to purchase

Cost of this course is $199, and includes an entry ticket into the Expo Hall from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.
